JAMMU, May 26: A five-day long Dwitya & Tritiya Sopan training camp for Scouts & Guides which started on 22nd May concluded today at Model Academy school. About 200 Scouts & Guides of Model Academy, Oriental Academy School, Lawerance Public School, May Fair and Guru Nanak Public school attended the camp under the supervision of Usha Chunni LOC (G), Yasin Sheikh LOC (S) and trainers RP Kotwal, FA Khan, Kasturi Sharma, Harcharan Singh, Neelam Gupta, Bimla Handoo, Kanchan Sharma, Neeru Talwar and Manjeet Kour. They learnt different modules according to APRO III & APRO II under the guidance of their trainers. The modules included, First -Aid, Mapping estimation, Pioneering, Cooking without fire, Rope knotting, Tent pitching & trekking at Manda zoo. Students also took part in tent pitching, cooking & painting competition on the theme anti-smoking and drug abuse. Winners of the various competitions were honoured with medals. As part of the environment awareness programme a vertical garden was created in the campus wherein plastic bottles were used for potting of plants. Dr Renu Gupta, Vice-Chairperson MIER was also a special invitee on the occasion who laid foundation of the garden. She congratulated all the students and trainers for the green initiative undertaken by them. State commissioner Bharat Scouts & Guides ID Soni was the chief guest on the inaugural day. In his address, he motivated the students about the essence of scouting and appreciated them for their commitment and hard work.
