Security forces all prepped to stop militant recruitment at funerals in South Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 22: J&K State Police chief SP Vaid have stated that a new strategy will be devised to deal with the gatherings at dead militants. Youths gather to eulogize dead militants in funerals, making provocative speeches which further motivate young people to join militant groups. He said strict measures will be taken by police from avoiding the gatherings to become too large. DGP Vaid refused to discuss the specifics of the policy but he told that people making provocative speeches will be identified. One of the police officials said that attempts are being made to cut access to the area so that the gathering should not become very large but at times, it becomes really difficult to implement control measures. MY Tarigami, a Communist Party of India (M) member of the J&K assembly said that the administration must take necessary steps to save young lives from being exploited by extremists. One of the officials admitted that apart from gathering on ground, the viral social media snippets of such funerals create a huge problem. Then the gun salutes at funeral gatherings add to frenzy and thus create an endless mess. Speculations are that meetings are in process in Delhi to deal with the raging crowd participating at militant funerals especially in South Kashmir.
