16 bovines rescued, truck driver held | | | Jammu, June 23: In continuation to operation 'Kamdhenu', launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu-Vivek Gupta, Jhajjar Kotli police today claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling while rescuing 16 bovines. Police sources said that Police Party of Jhajjar Kotli police station led by SHO Inspector Ajay Singh Chib during a naka checking at Suketar, intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AR-6991 which was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar. "During search, the truck was found loaded with 16 bovines without any permission from concerned authorities", said police sources adding that the bovines were rescued and the truck was seized. Police also arrested the truck driver who has been identified as Satinder Singh of Simbal Camp Jammu. On this instance, a case under FIR No. 55/2018 under section 188 of RPC 3/5 Prevention of Cruelty towards Animal (PCA) Act has been registered in police station Jhajjar Kotli police station. |
