IS base in Kashmir confirmed from recent encounter
6/24/2018 11:12:50 PM
Even during the Governor's rule
the year-old practices of crowds surfacing at the encounter sites continue leading to clashes between the security forces and the protesters. However even before deployment of Black cats the security forces have intensified cordon and search operations for eliminating militants who have given a tough time to the now defunct PDP-BJP coalition Government. Four militants, including the head of the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK), were killed during a gunfight with security forces in Anantnag district other A policeman and a civilian were also killed in the exchange of fire between militants and security forces at a village in Srigufwara, The police identified one of the militants killed as Dawood, who was heading the ISJK, an affiliate of ISIS, he said. Three civilians are reported to be critical. The incident has belied reports of no presence of IS in Jammu and Kashmir.
• Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khiram in Srigufwara area of the south Kashmir district the other day after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The search operation turned into a gunfight after the militants fired at the forces, who retaliated. Clashes broke out near the encounter site when a group of youth started pelting the forces with stones. These protesters are trained for diverting the attention of the security forces so that they commit some mistake which may allow militants a chance to escape. But security forces had eliminated four militants before protesters clashed with the security forces.
• In fact the security forces have been asked to concentrate in south Kashmir which is to receive several lakh of pilgrims because the traditional route to the holy cave of Amarnath passes through Anantnag-Mattan-Pahalgam from where the pilgrims trek to the mountain cave, supposed to be the abode of Shiva and his consort, Parvati. These instructions to the security forces have been issued to ensure incident free yatra and besides separatists even some mainstream political leaders may try to vitiate the atmosphere to belittle the image of Vohra. But Vohra is a highly seasoned bureaucrat knowing fully the art of raising a wall of security forces to prevent militants from causing any impact on the yatra. After the failure of the tourist traffic it is the pilgrim traffic to Amarnath cave and to the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi those connected with tourism eke out a living and hence people may resent if any disruption is caused to the annual yatra.
