PNBMT discusses Kashmiri Hindu Temples & Shrines Bill | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 24: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) organized a meeting of the members of the core group under the Chairmanship of Shiban Khaibri to review the progress relating to the passage of the all important Kashmiri Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill today. While speaking in the meeting the members expressed serious concern regarding the condition of the temple and shrine properties in Kashmir. The members expressed shock and dismay at the condition of the temple properties in Kashmir with everyday news emanating of usurpation, vandalization and mischief. The temples and shrines of Kashmir have seen a continuous process of neglect and apathy ever since the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir. With the further deteriorating situation in Kashmir there is an imminent threat to the very existence of these symbols of our pristine civilization that have been in existence for the last more than 5000 years in Kashmir. Members said that the passage of the all important Kashmiri Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill alone can create a legal and institutional framework that would ensure the safety security and upkeep of these temples. The members were unanimous in their opinion that there was a need to intensify the efforts at all levels and create a national level consciousness for the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill in Kashmir. In the days to come the members of the PNBMT would be meeting all the important functionaries and lawmakers in this regard. |
