MGNREGA Employees stage protest demonstration | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, July 11: Hundred of MGNREGA employees under the banner of All J&K MGNREGA Employees Association assembled at ACD office Kohbagh and held protest demanding that government to frame a legitimate job policy for them, here today. The protesting employees said that their strike extended for 48 hours in all the districts till the demands of framing a legitimate job policy in favour of MGNREGA employees. Association district president Ashfaq Ahmed Malik said that MGNREGA is India's flagship programme run by thousands of qualified youth but till date government is not serious to secure the future of such employees. He further said that recently government framed a job policy for regularizing the services of all contractual, consolidated, casual and daily rated workers working in various departments but it is very unfortunate that MGNREGA employees were totally ignored. He maintained that government has always betrayed them, and added that few months back they called off the protest when the officials assured redressal of their demands but they failed to deliver on their promises. He threatened that if the government fails to do anything this time, they will intensify their strike in coming days and will launch mega protest throughout the state. "Some of our employees have crossed their upper age limit and they are not able to apply for any job as their future is at stake" he added. |
