Early Times Report Jammu, July 26: The Excise Department once again along with Police Department at Lakhanpur foiled a major attempt of smuggling out bhuki from the state, when they seized 500 kgs of processed Poppy Husk in a vehicle bearing Registration No.JK02V-7495 carrying goods Fresh Fruit. The vehicle alongwith Fresh Fruit boxes and contraband item (Bhukki) have been seized by the Police Station, Lakhanpur for further investigation and action under the NDPS Act. The whole operation was conducted by the joint team consisting of Inspectors Khalid Manhas and Dheeraj Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Manvinderpal Singh, Tousif Sheikh and Kanwaljeet Shan and Excise Guards Rajesh Kumar and Mohd Shakeel under the supervision of Excise & Taxation Officers Sandeep Gupta, Sourabh Sharma & Sajad Sofi and and SHO Police Station Lakhanpur Sushil Sharma and under the direct supervision of Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur and Shridhar Patil, Senior Supdt. of Police, Kathua. The Excise Commissioner, J&K Government M. Raju appreciated the efforts of the Excise & Police staff in detecting the instant contraband item and enjoined upon them to work with more zeal and in coordination with departments/ agencies and also complimented Vishesh Paul Mahajan for the achievement and also asked him to continue coordination with Police Department to remove the menace of drugs smuggling from the State. |
