Now JRL divided on policy towards political developments in Pakistan | | | Early Times Report jammu, July 26: Amid mounting discontent within the ranks of the so called Joint Resistance Leadership in Kashmir, the JRL top leadership is now divided over policy towards Pakistan. Sources said in the wake of terror strikes in the neighboring country on July 25, when general elections were held in the country, the JRL couldn't arrive at consensus to even unanimously condemn the attack or to criticize the alleged irregularities in the voting there that day. While the JRL chief, and senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani issued a separate handout to condemn the "terror strikes", Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik decided to remain silent. Sources said some of their masters in Pakistan wanted the JRL to condemn the alleged irregularities in voting aimed to benefit Army-backed Imran Khan. "Nawaz Sharief's party which had been funding Hurriyat had been in chair previously and they wanted the Hurriyat to be on their side, but the separatists played cleverly," said an insider. Sources said many of the Hurriyat leaders believed that it would be "unwise" to condemn anything pertaining to Pakistan, when many of the Kashmiri militants like Zakir Musa are already after the separatist leaders. Two years ago, Musa, who claims to be heading a global terror network in Kashmir pledged to behead the Hurriyat leaders at the historic Ghanta Ghar. Sources said the separatists have decided to "react cautiously" towards the political developments unfolding in Pakistan till some new government is formed in the neighboring country. "Basically the separatists want to act cautiously till the new government is formed as they don't want to annoy prospective masters till the things settle there," said a source in the Hurriyat. Source said Geelani was asked by his colleagues to apply the same wisdom till new government was formed in Pakistan but that he decided to go for condemnation. Sources said the separatists have always been in dilemma when Pakistan witnesses elections as they are not sure about its future policies on Kashmir would be like. "It's an open secret that the separatist work on the payrolls of Pakistan and thus work as its puppets on Indian soil but close to new government formation these leaders suffer a dilemma which leaves them confused. The same hold true for the recent lack on consensus on developments unfolding there," said a Hurriyat insider. |
