Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, July 27: A 19-year-old youth was killed while three of his friends were seriously injured in a fatal car accident in Doda district today, police said.
The brand new Maruti Alto car, on its way to Doda from Bhaderwah, was being driven at a high speed when the driver allegedly used his hand-brake resulting in the vehicle hitting a parapet and turning turtle near village Kulsari, they said.
College students Mohit Bhagat (19), Arush Kotwal (18), Rahul Bloria (18) and Rohit (19)-- the driver of the car-- were rushed to the sub district hospital in Bhaderwah. Bhagat was declared brought dead by the doctors, police said.
Bloria and Kotwal were later shifted to Government Medical College in Jammu for further treatment as they had suffered grave injuries, they added.
"After receiving report of the accident at police station Bhaderwah, a police party from the nearby post immediately rushed to the spot and with the help of locals shifted the injured boys to the hospital, where doctors declared one of them (Bhagat) as brought dead," said ASP Bhadarwah Rajinder Singh.
"According to preliminary investigation, it is apparent that the car was being driven rashly and perhaps the driver suddenly used hand-brake, due to which the vehicle flew in the air and turned turtle on the road," officer added.
