Poonch based drug peddler held with 40 grams of heroin

Jammu, July 27: In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevani', a special drive against drugs launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Vivek Gupta, today Gandhi Nagar police claimed to have arrested a Poonch based drug peddler and recovered 40 grams of heroin from his possession.
Police spokesman said that police party from Gandhi Nagar police station established a naka near Ware House Chowk Jammu for checking/ frisking of vehicles.
"When the police party was checking/frisking the vehicles one Tavera Car bearing Registration number JK02138-2317 was also stopped for checking", said police spokesman adding that on checking 40 grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of the driver of the car.
Police identified the driver of the car as Pardeep Singh of Kunnia Poonch and accordingly a case under FIR No. 164/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station while further investigation is on.
Spokesman further said that during questioning the drug peddler deposed that he use to bring narcotics from Poonch to sell it among the youth of Jammu area.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia-SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Sandeep Charak-in-charge police spot Nehru Market under the supervision of DySP Rafiq Manhas-SDPO City South and I/C SP City South Vinay Kumar.
