4 arrested in Policeman's murder case

Srinagar, July 27: Four persons had been arrested in Srinagar on Friday as they were found guilty in killing a policeman and snatching his firearm in February.
According to the police officials, the four accused were identified as Umar Noor Bhat, Waseem Ahmad Sofi, Ubaid Zoji and Adil Majid Bhat and were arrested on Thursday.
Police told the media that a probe had pointed to the role of local militant Isa Fazli in the attack, but later it was found that two more militants Syed Owais Shafi and Tawseef Ahmed were involved in the attack along with the 4 people. The police official further said that the plan was hatched at Adil's house in Chatabal area. Umar carried 3 more militants in a car whereas Waseem checked the presence of security forces in the area.
Police Constable Farooq Ahmad was killed and his service rifle was taken away by militants when he was a guarding a post at the residence of Hurriyat Conference leader Fazal Haq Qureshi in Soura area of Srinagar on February 25.
After the attack was carried out Ubaid and Waseem escaped on their motorbikes after which Umar had transported them out in a car.
The police official revealed that three militants were later killed in an encounter at Hakoora in Anantnag district.
