Kathua, July 27: The District level air rifle and air pistol shooting championship was inaugurated by Sridhar Patil, IPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Kathua at the KPS Shooting range located in the premises of Kartar Public School. The Championship is organized by the district unit of J&K Rifle Association. Er. Nirmaljit Singh, Chairman of Kartar Education Trust, Harpreet Kaur, Secretary-cum-Principal of KPS, and Sohan Lal Sharma, Vice President, J&K Rifle Association received the dignitary at the venue. The chief guest cut the ribbon and declared the event open.
He also fired the first shot with an imported air rifle. Sandeep Singh, coach of the national shooting team was also present. The chief guest was informed that the championship was organized for the first time at the district level. More than one hundred and fifty students from Army Public School, DAV Collegiate School, JK Public School, Sai International School, other schools and colleges are participating in the three day event, which is open to the categories of sub junior, youth, junior and open. |
