Drug peddler held, 190 kg poppy straw recovered

Jammu, Aug 5 : In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevani', launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Vivek Gupta, today Jhajjar Kotli Police achieved a success in curbing the menace of drugs in the society by seizing a huge quantity of Poppy Husk on highway.
Police spokesman said that today police team led by Inspector Ajay Singh Chib-SHO Jajjhar Kotli raised a naka at Suketar and a mini milk tanker was asked to stop for searching, the driver stopped the tanker and started running away, who was apprehended.
"On apprehension he disclosed that he had stealthily concealed 19 plastics bag of Poppy Husk (Bhukki) in the tanker", said spokesman adding that when the tanker was opened a huge quantity of poppy husk weighing approximately 190 kg poppy straw (19 plastic bags of 10 kg each) was recovered.
The vehicle (milk tanker) bearing registration number PB31A-7766 was seized and the accused driver namely Bikkar Singh of Ramgarh Sandhuan District Sangroor Punjab was taken into custody in case FIR under No. 76/2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation started. The whole operation was got conducted under the close supervision of DySP Yashvir Singh Slathia- SDPO Nagrota and Addl. SP (Rural) Dushant Sharma.
