Activist alleges violation of labour law by AFCONS management

Kishtwar, Aug 5: Brewing resentment is prevailing among the workers of AFCONS company which has been entrusted with the responsibility to execute the construction of Pakal Dul hydroelectric project Kishtwar where the workers are treated as animals by the management, Joginder Bhandari a social activist criticized the management of AFCONS company for not providing adequate facilities to their workers as per the labour law.
He said that the workers have not been given any transportation facility, accommodation, tiolate facility, mess facility, drinking water facility at work site, medical facility, EPF facility and other. He further added that the AFCONS management is violating all the rules and the workers have not even been covered under risk cover and they have not been even issued identity cards and no proper safety equipments to workmen .
The Assistant labour commissioner Kishtwar is urged to visit weekly to work site to listen the grievances of workers and abolish labour supply system so that the workers could be benefited suitably and workers should be given all facilities as per the labour law.
Those attended the meeting includes Ghulam Hussain Gannie, Rinku Sen, Hafiz Mattoo, Anil Sharma, Mohd Ashraf Gannie, Ajay Sharma, Surjeet Singh Badyal, Farooq Lone, Sanjay Bhagat, Shanker Singh Wazir, Ranjeet Sharma, Akhter Sheikh and Sardar Satpal Singh.
