Rajouri, Aug 5: District Rajouri police in two separate operations against bovine smuggling have apprehended five persons and rescued 54 bovine animals from their clutches. Senior police officer said that after specific inputs about an bid to smuggle bovines from villages Mathyani, Sada& Triyath in Kalakot sub district towards Nagathub in Kotranka tehsil for forward Journey to Kashmir, Budhal police laid a special Naka at Nagathub. "In the wee hours today the police team lead by Jahangir Ahmed, SHO, Budhal under the supervision of Sukhdev Singh, deputy SP (Ops) intervepted two persons along with 45 bovine animals" said SSP. He added during frisking it was established that 25 animals were being taken by Liakat Ali of Audhan village and 20 by Mohd Qasim of Gunda village both under Budhal police station. Similarly, Manjakot police team headed by Ajaz Haider, SHO under the supervision of Imtiaz Ahmed, SDPO intercepted Bolero vehicle bearing registration No. JK11A-4408 on border link road near Naika village. "On checking it was found that three smugglers namely Shakoat Hussain r/o Nowshera, Qamar Shaban and Mohd Ashraf both r/o of Qila Darhal (Nowshera) were taking the animals for smuggling. All the three have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the law. Police have also seized the vehicle and started investigation in both the incidents. |
