Constitute separate board for PoJK DPs' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 5: PoJK refugees criticized the callous attitude of the government for giving step-motherly treatment to the Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947, 1965 and 1971. Led by Rachhpal Singh Chib, the refugees under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir PoJK Refugee Front-1947, 1965 and 1971 assembled near Press Club and raised slogans against the government. Chib accused the government of not acting on the advice of the Departmental Parliamentary Standing Committee constituted to implement the Prime Minister's package for all displaced persons of Jammu and Kashmir. Chib alleged that government departments don't have updated record of the DP families in their Provincial / District level Record Rooms, but they are asking the people to produce such old record and even original papers. "It's not possible for the refugee families to produce more than 50 years old record. The government should simplify the procedure," he asserted. "The families uprooted from Pak occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir due to Indo-Pak wars of 1947, 1965 and 1971, have been deprived of their right for final settlement despite directions of the Central Government," Chib lamented. Chib also appealed to the State and Central Governments to constitute a separate board for the PoJK DPs of 1947 and Chamb DPs of 1965 and 1971 for solving their long pending demands. He warned the State Government to simplify the procedure or get ready to face an agitation. |
