SRINAGAR, Aug 8: The State High Court has directed Director, Estates, Jammu and Kashmir provide details of Government accommodations available in the shape of Bungalows, houses, Quarters and hired accommodations in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Hearing a petition, a bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey also sought details of the norms/ regulations/ criteria in vogue for making allotment of accommodations to Ministers sitting and former, Judges, sitting or former, Officers of Police and civil administration, sitting and former legislators, protected persons. The court also sought details on an affidavit, regarding accommodations allotted and in occupation of former Ministers, former Legislators, sitting Legislators, Officers, Judges via-a-vis their entitlement. It also said list of the occupants with the details of accommodation, who are in possession of the available Units as per their entitlement in tune with the regulations, be also provided along with unauthorized occupants with the details of unauthorized occupancy and steps, taken for ensuring eviction of unauthorized occupants. "Petitioner along with all such un-authorized incumbents, whose list would be furnished by the Director, Estates, shall be put on notice by the Registrar Judicial of this Court for furnishing the details of their houses in Jammu and Srinagar," the court said. The court directed, Sr. AAG B. A. Dar to furnish list of all the petitions pending on the subject to the Registrar Judicial of the Court, who shall list all those petitions along with this petition on the next date. "The matter shall be treated as part heard," the court said and ordered it to be re-notified on September 6. In the meantime, Director, Estates, State of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, shall ensure eviction of un-authorized occupants from the Government accommodations and report compliance, the court added. It asked Registrar Judicial, to send copy of the order to the Chief Secretary to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for information. |
