17 Bovine animals rescued, 02 bovine smugglers held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 8: In continuation to 'Operation Kamdhenu' launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Vivek Gupta against the menace of bovine smuggling, Nagrota Police today foiled a major attempt of bovine smugglers to transport bovine animals illegally to Kashmir Valley. Police spokesman said that acting on specific information, Nagrota police raised a special naka near Khanpur Nagrota National Highway. "During naka checking, one truck bearing registration number PBO6M-8698 coming from Narwal side was signalled to stop but the driver tried to accelerate the vehicle and run away", said spokesman adding that the cops on naka chased the vehicle and apprehended it after a brief chase. Spokesman further said that on Checking, 17 bovine animals were rescued from the vehicle and two bovine smugglers namely Gafoor Mohd of Chamba, Himmachal Pradesh and Shakil Ahmed of Reasi were arrested on spot. The bovine animals were tied very mercilessly by the smugglers. In this connection, a case under FIR No. 187/2018 under section 188 of RPC, 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota. Police team led by Inspector Deepak Pathania-SHO Nagrota made the arrests under the supervision of DySP Yashbir Singh Slathia-SDPO Nagrota and Dushyant Sharma SP Rural Jammu. Pertinently, 04 bovine animals were rescued and one bovine smuggler was arrested by Nagrota Police on previous day. |
