| Drug peddler held with 5 kg poppy straw | | | Jammu, Aug 11: In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevani', a special drive against drugs launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu-Vivek Gupta, today Police party from Police Station Pacca Danga today arrested a drug peddler and recovered 5 kg poppy straw (Bhukki) from his possession.
Police spokesman said that while on Naka duty at Manda, Jammu police party of Pacca Danga police station apprehended one pedestrian namely Jasvinder Singh of Punjab who was coming from Nagrota towards Jammu City, was stopped for checking. "During search of his belongings, 5 Kg Poppy Straw (Bhukki) like substance was recovered from his possession", said spokesman adding that in this regard, a case under FIR No. 120/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Pacca Danga police station and further investigations of the case is going on to ascertain source and destination of Poppy Straw. The arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SI Dheeraj Nagpal- SHO Pacca Danga, DySP Varun Jandial-SDPO City North and GL Sharma-incharge SP City North Jammu. |
