PLS organizes felicitation function | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 11 : Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (Regd.), Jammu today organized a felicitation function- cum- screening of three short Punjabi films by Sh. R S Wazir and his son Gurpreet Wazir at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. The function was arranged to honour R S Wazir for their contribution as producer in the field of tele- films and short films. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the Guest of Honour on this occasion. A large number of intellectuals, writers, artists, theatre and film personalities attended the function. Three short Punjabi films namely "Nithaven Ko Thaon" (an awarded film), "Karma" (made in Australia) and "Fateh Sirhand Baba Banda Singh Bahadur" were shown to the audience present in the theatre. Kavinder Gupta in his address appreciated PLS to honour such personalities who are really contributing to the society with true spirit and dignifying the values of the patriotic fervor. He expressed his hope that more such people would be highlighted through organization of events like the present one. He also recited a piece of a poem on Banda Singh Bahadur. He emphasized that the teachings of Sikhism should be followed. He also informed that soon a statue of Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk as he execution of making the statue is near completion. R S Wazir was presented Flower bouquet, Shawl and momentoes (citations) on this occasion. The citation was read out prior to its presentation to Wazir. |
