Dir Agriculture reviews implementation of farmers' welfare programmes | | | Early Times Report REASI, Aug 11: Director Agriculture, Jammu accompanied by Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension) Jammu visited the farmers' fields at Talwara, Marhi, Baggha, Painthal, Katra and Nomian in district Reasi to monitor the progress of various Farmers' welfare schemes and to interact with farmers to get the firsthand information regarding feedback, requirements and problems of the farmers. Interacting with the farmers at various places Director Agriculture Jammu, Hari Krishan Razdan stressed on for diversification their farming through vegetable cultivation, apiculture, mushroom growing and to re-orient their cropping scheme to produce cash crops and local specialties as per demand of the market. He asked the farmers to go for the cultivation of pulses with the use of latest technological interventions to increase the production and raise their economic condition. He advised the farmers to make Self Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and to avail the benefits of Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) and Crop Insurance Scheme. Earlier, while speaking during the review meeting of the officers and field functionaries of district Reasi, he impressed upon the staff to make all out efforts to introduce different technological interventions and adoption of Improved Agricultural Practices for the cultivation of various crops. O S Choudhary, Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi gave a detailed presentation of various ongoing schemes, programmes and constraints in the implementation of various farmers welfare activities. |
