DSO Udhampur demoralizing young talent; forces players to quit: UTTA | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Aug 16: Expressing deep concern and anguish over the 'arrogant and irresponsible' behaviour of the District Sports Officer (DSO) Udhampur, the members of the Udhampur Table Tennis Association (UTTA) alleged that the officer has completely misled the players of Table Tennis who were selected for Inter District Table Tennis championship which is going to be held at Leh from August 18 onwards. While addressing the media persons here today, Working President UTTA Tarun blamed that the District Sports Officer Udhampur has completely failed to perform his duties and revealed that the selected players were continuously visiting DSO office, even then he has not informed them for any such update of tournament. When players visited his office after knowing that the tournament is being held at Leh, he clearly refused to allow them to participate and asked them to skip the tournament. Tarun said that the DSO gave silly excuse that department has no funds for participation in tournament which is completely unacceptable and disrespectful to the sentiments of our young talent which put a big question mark over their poor work policy, he added. Ankit Sharma (Vice President) and Prikshit Khajuria (Joint Secretary) said that on one hand Government give slogans of "Khelo India" & on the other hand their officers are forcing youngsters to quit their game by their arrogant behaviour. UTTA members warned the higher authorities of strong protest if early action is not taken against DSO Udhampur. They appealed Governor and Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu to take appropriate action against such erring officer under rules who is working against the sports persons. |
