Early Times Report

ANANTNAG, Aug 24: One Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant was killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in Gadol village of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday Morning.
A civilian also suffered bullet injuries near encounter site during the operation, reports said.
They said that on specific tipoff about the presence of militants in the village, joint search party of the Army and the police cordoned off the Gadol-Vailoo area of Kokernag and started house to house search operation.
A police spokesman said the gunfight in the area erupted soon after the militants hiding in the village fired upon the search party.
In the operation, one militant affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant outfit was killed, however police couldn't ascertain his identity till last reports came in. "A huge quantity of ammunition and incriminating material has been seized from the site of encounter," said the spokesman. The police said the militant, who had been neutralized, "was involved in several attacks on security forces and civilians in the area."
Director General Police (DGP) SP Vaid earlier in the day had said that they suspect presence of two to three militants at the encounter site.
During the operation, the area also witnessed clashes between security forces and locals. One civilian, identified as Yawar Ahmad Chopan, was hit in the head by a bullet. He was immediately shifted to District Hospital Anantnag.
According to the hospital authorities the injured civilian is "stable".
The authorities had snapped internet services in the area, however, the services were restored in the afternoon.
