TJAC stages protest on occasion of Teachers day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 5: Teachers' Joint Action Committee (TJAC) today staged a protest demonstration on the occasion of teacher's day in favour of their demands. The protesting teachers tried to march towards Governor House for 7th Pay Commission and delinking of SSA Salary but police foiled their march. The TJAC, which is an amalgam of J&K ReT Teachers Forum J&K Teachers Forum, J&K SSA Teachers Forum staged protest. State President JKRTTF Vinod Sharma, State General Secretary JKTF Ganesh Khajuria, State Vice President JKRTTF Gulzabir Daing, State Chief Coordinator JKRTTF Sukhdev Singh Sumbria and Provincial President Jammu Rajesh Singh Jamwal were leading the protest in which thousands of ReTs from all the Districts of Jammu province participated. Holding placards in their hands and shouting slogans in favour of their grievances thousands of ReTs gathered at Press Club Jammu where indefinite chain hunger strike under the banner of TJAC is going on. Addressing the gathering Vinod Sharma lamented the government for its dilly delaying tactics to resolve the issues of SSA Teachers and masters including immediate implementation of 7th Pay Commission and delinking of SSA Salary from MHRD to State Budget due to which families of thousands of these teachers are suffering badly as they are living miserable lives as they are unable to provide proper food and clothing to their children and required medicines to their old and ailing parents. He said , "We have projected these issues from bottom to top and even many peaceful protests have been held in Jammu as well as Kashmir province but still these issues are unresolved, thereby forcing us to come on roads and choosing extreme step of indefinite Chain hunger strike " adding that they have no such attention to leave their schools and come on roads but callous approach of the government is forcing them for such steps. He said, " Today is Teachers' Day and thousands of teachers are on roads due to the wrong policy of the government and warned more such protests in near future if government fails to immediately implement 7th Pay Commission which is our basic right as we have been already provided 6th Pay Commission and other benefits and denying and delaying it would yield more resentment among the teachers". Some of the teachers also sustained injuries in the police lathicharge. Meanwhile Indefinite Chain Hunger Strike Of TJAC at Press Club Jammu entered 7th consecutive day and at Srinagar it entered 3rd consecutive day under the dynamic leadership of chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani . |
