Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 8: A two week Induction programme organized for the B.E first year students concluded at GCET campus. The Induction programme is a part of TEQIP-III (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme Phase-Ill), a Govt, of India initiative under the aegis of Ministry of HRD and AICTE. Students at GCET were initiated into this programme by the Induction Programme Coordinators, Dr. Rajinder Gupta and Dr. Anita Brar by familiarizing them with the model curriculum, registering them as students, followed by visit to laboratories and various departments in small groups accompanied by the faculty and the mentors. The initial phase of programme was followed by lectures and inter-active sessions by experts and eminent faculty drawn from reputed Institutes like IIT Jammu, University of Jammu & UIET, Chandigarh. The relevance of basic sciences in Engineering Courses was clearly settled by the faculty members from UIET, Chandigarh and Dr. K.S Charak (Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu), Dr. Anil Raina (Department of EVS, University of Jammu) and so was the art of speaking well distinguished from the art of communication by Dr. Veena Rani (GCET) and Dr. Nancy Handoo, (Former Associate Professor of NIT, Srinagar), Dr. D.N. Sharma (GCET) and Ms. Ishita from IIT Jammu. A session by Dr. T.R Raina (Ex-HoD, Blood Bank, GMC, Jammu) on "Holistic Health Science of Stress and its Management through Yoga" was also organized. |
