Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 8: In a starling exposure it has been come to fore that students of Government Middle School Sahi falling in zone Majalta here have to cross a 50 feet wide rivulet to enter a forest area leading to their school. Santoshi Devi-one 8th class student crossing the rivulet told Early Times that they risk their lives while they cross the rivulet to reach their school. She further informed that their uniform, books, bag and other belongings often get wet while they cross the rivulet. An elder from a nearby village-Lekhu said that in rainy season the rivulet overflows its danger mark so many times the childen have to miss their classes as they don't want to enter the death trap in the form of flooded rivulet. He further said that many times they visited the DC office with a demand of bridge or some cable moving system to cross the rivulet but no step was taken to honour their demand. The affected people have appealed to the Governor S.P Malik and DC Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar to look into the matter and construct a bridge over the rivulet before some catastrophe hits the area. |
