Bhardwaj demands for wards of people living along International Border
9/12/2018 10:30:48 PM
Early Times Report
ARNIA (Bishnah), Sept 12: Senior Congress leader and member AICC, Mohinder Bhardwaj has demanded formulation of a proper recruitment and employment policy for the wards of people living all along the International Border and the LoC particularly for those who lose their bread earners in firing. It is shocking that both the Centre and the state governments have done nothing to protect the interests of those who are continuously suffering due to unprovoked firing by Pakistan.
Addressing an impressive gathering of residents belonging to border villages of this sector on Wednesday, after handing over letters of recruitment to three persons, he said that despite repeated demands raised by these people no system has been put in place by which the wards of those losing lives in Pakistan firing were given employment in a time bound manner. Referring to the cases of these three persons who got government jobs on compassionate ground after facing hardships and bureaucratic hurdles that too despite entitlement. Bhardwaj wondered as to why should families who lost their members in border firing be treated in such a manner. "These are poor people and many of them belong to the deprived sections of the society who have no option of migrating to safer places. It is the duty of the government to protect their interests by all means," he added.
"It is ironic that neither the government nor officialdom and more shockingly even their elected representatives and none of the former MLAs came to their help when they were running from pillar to post. It was only after the matter came to my notice that the issue was resolved," he observed. He demanded that two cases of compassionate appointment one belonging to village Allah and another of village Arnia is still under consideration of the authorities which require immediate attention.
Praising the valour of the armed forces to continuously protect the country's border, he said that people living on the border almost act as a second line of defence and stand shoulder to shoulder with the forces in trying times. "It is sad and shocking that these people have been totally neglected by the governments. Nothing accept lip service has been rendered to them by the governments of the day and their MP and MLAs," he said.
Bhardwaj assured people that he would relentlessly fight for their rights particular in the matter of reservation in job, employment, safety and security.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Krishan Saini(block president), Attar Singh, Capt. Wazir Singh, Capt. Gurdayal Saini, Kewal Saini, Rajwant Singh, Rattan Lal and many others.
