Measles-Rubella awareness rally held

Rajouri, Sept 17:.Marking the launch of Anti-Measles and Rubella Vaccination campaign, over 200 health staff members including Doctors, CHOs BMEO, ANMs, ASHA workers and school going students took out a huge awareness rally this morning in Kotranka market organised by Department of Health and Family Welfare, Block Kandi.
The rally was flagged off from CHC Kandi by Block Medical Officer, Dr. Iqbal Malik under supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kotranka Jb Ved Parkash
The Block Kandi has planned to administer MR vaccine to approximately 36000 children for which 415 teams have been constituted to carry out the task. Each team has a vaccinator(ANM), ASHA,AWW and a school teacher who will be the facilitator. Vaccination will be done in all the health institutions besides Govt and Private schools, AWCs and outreach High Risk Area sites.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Iqbal Malik Block Medical officer, Kandi said that the vaccination campaign would go on covering over 36000 children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years in the block. He further said that the campaign would first cover over 3,00 schools and later other places. He added that the campaign was aimed to elliminate Measles and control Rubella virus which are dangerous diseases and immunisation is vital for children.

During the rally CHO Sh Ayoub Lone addressed public at Bus stand Kotranka and near J&K Bank Kotranka regarding gravity of Measles Rubella Campaign and requested parents to get their children vaccinated against these dreaded diseases
