Pawan demands rational distribution of new degree colleges | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 17: Hailing decision of the State Administrative Council (SAC) headed by Governor Satya Pal Malik Government to open 40 new degree colleges in different parts of the state, senior BJP leader and member Monitoring Committee For Minorities Education, Ministry of HRD Union Government Pawan Sharma today emphasized on the need of rational distribution of these colleges to cater need of deserving areas. In a statement issued here today, Sharma sought to draw attention of Governor's administration towards problems being faced by the students of Jammu region due to non availability of seats in degree colleges. He demanded that out of these 40 new degree colleges, two boys and one woman degree college must be allotted to Jammu city in order to ease the pressure on existing colleges. Pawan Sharma has further suggested the SAC to open one women degree college each in Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Rajouri and Poonch district, so that more rural women could pursue higher education. He said that opening of women degree colleges in remotest areas would give a big relief to the needy and deserving females who could not pursue their higher education due to non availability of facilities in their respective areas. "A number of students from Jammu are forced to take admission outside the state due to non availability of seats in the existing degree colleges", he said and hoped that opening of 40 new colleges would solve the problem once for all. |
