Udhampur, Sept 17 : The authorities have failed to establish Solid waste management in Ydhampur till date.
The municipality, therefore, dumps garbage at Jakhani on a mountainside.
The foul smell emanating from the farbage makes lufe of people who live around the site difficult.
Local Said that the garbage goes into River Tawi which is a source of potable water. The water gets polluted and is not fit for human consumption.
Dumping of garbage around the most Busy National Highway also affects tourism and enviornment as well.
An Environmental expert while talking to Early Times said that there are two kinds of garbage one is wet garbage and other is dry garbage. Dry garbage can be sold to junk dealers but wet garbage requires proper collection
The gsrbage is not segregated at the source making it difficult to dispose it properly.
He also added that Dumping of the Garbage on the Road side at Near Kheri is now become the main Reason of health hazards . |
