MIER College organizes Ozone protection day | | | Jammu, Sept 17: Environment unit of MIER College of Education commemorated the Ozone protection Day by organizing an interactive session on saving the environment. The Programme started with the brief introduction on Ozone Protection Day. Students were shown videos related to pollution, wastage, ozone depletion, planet destruction by human activities which was followed by an interactive session. About 130 students of B.Ed. and B.Ed. Special Education Departments participated enthusiastically in the discussion and put forth their views before the audience on saving the environmental resources. Talking about the topic various suggestions were given by the students like selection of products made from recycled materials or designed to be safer for the environment, planting more trees, Saying no to fire crackers on Diwali and other occasions, using eco-friendly products, using rechargeable batteries, saying no to excess pesticides, chemicals, paints, solvents, put off the vehicles ignition at red light etc. Special focus was given to 3 R'S- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It was further discussed that composting can be done for waste management. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education, Dr. Rohnika Sharma HOD UG along with the staff members and the students of the college witnessed and encouraged the participants. Dr. Adit Gupta highlighted the importance of individual awareness and the strength of collective action. He also laid special emphasis on the role played by the students in ensuring the success of such programmes. Dr. Monika Bajaj highlighted the need of saving the planet. She elaborated that India has consciously chosen a path for most environment-friendly and energy efficient technologies, while phasing out Ozone Depleting.
