Terrorists attack police station in Shopian, cop martyred | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 30: One policeman was martyred on Sunday morning after terrorists attacked a police station in south Kashmir's Shopian district. Police constable Saqib Mohiudin, a resident of Zawoora, lost his life as terrorists attacked Sadar Thana, Shopian. Saqib was deployed at the main gate of the police station. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The terrorists hurled grenades at the police station and then opened fire. Additional troops from the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rushed to the area following the attack. The whole area has been cordoned off. The terrorists managed to escape the spot with service rifle of the slain cop. A search operation is underway. A wreath-laying event was held on Sunday in District Police Lines Shopian where tributes were paid to the slain Policeman constable Saqib Mohi Din a resident of village Zawoora of district Shopian who was killed was killed after militants attacked police station Shopian today early morning. DIG South Kashmir laid wreaths on Slain Constable Saqib's Coffin. A police spokesperson said that civil and Police Officers led by Deputy Inspector General of Police south Kashmir laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tribute to the slain who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. "Among others, SSP Shopian, CO 14th Bn CRPF, and other officers and jawans were present at the wreath-laying," said police spokesperson. |
