Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 30: Advisor to Governor, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai today asked the private educational institutions to carry forward their dual responsibility of imparting quality education and a social responsibility to cater to the less privileged segment of the society with more dedication.
Ganai asserted that Private School Managements should have self regulations on the functioning of the schools.
Access, equity and benchmarks are the need of the hour in the present era of knowledge education, he said, adding that, the Government will not allow a few unscrupulous elements to make education a purely profit generating business which is very demeaning to the basic concept of quality education.
He said that the Government acknowledges the contribution of private educational institutions in improving the literacy rate in the state. He further asked the private schools to ensure adequate infrastructure being provided to the students at reasonable fee structure.
The Advisor stated this during his public outreach programme in Jammu under the aegis of JK Governor's Grievance Cell in which more than 500 individuals besides delegations hailing from various districts including Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Udhampur, Poonch, Ramban and Kishtwar called on the Advisor and apprised him of the problems being faced by them.
The members of the J&K Private School Association put-forth their demands which includes fixation of fees for private schools, uniform and consistent regulatory mechanism, financial exclusion of private schools and many others.
Asserting that the Governor's administration is committed to provide prompt and efficient delivery of various public services to the people, the Advisor directed the officers to redouble their efforts to address the developmental issues of public on priority.
He further said that all out efforts are being made to ensure satisfactory and uninterrupted delivery of services to the people at their doorstep.
Many other deputations also flagged several issues faced by them and sought their redressal.
The Advisor gave them a patient hearing and assured that he will examine their demands and asked the concerned departments to redress all of their genuine concerns.
Later, Advisor to Governor, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai convened a meeting of officers to review preparations regarding the conduct of annual examination for class 10th, 11th and 12th of Winter Zone of Jammu region
