Sodhi congratulates Government for India's election to UNHCR | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 13: In a meeting held with the members of J&K Civil Society at New Delhi, Chairman S S Sodhi extended his heartiest congratulations to all government bodies, media and citizens of India for India's historic win in the recently held elections to United Nations Human Rights Council with maximum votes. India acclaimed highest number of 188 votes out of 193 to get elected to the UN's top human rights body for a period of three years, beginning January1, 2019 in the Asia Pacific category. Speaking on the occasion, Sodhi reiterated the importance of human resources as being the essential capital of the whole world. He said that efforts should be made towards initiating small, daily acts of courage to help preserve man's self-respect and inherent human dignity. Other members also discussed their respective points of view regarding promoting virtues of ethics exercised in the environment conducive to freedom of thought, expression, peace and non-violence. Every member took pledge to contribute their bit towards promoting a better quality of human life and humanizing humanity. |
