After abusing Raj Bhawan, NC leaders call on Governor | Sharam TumKo Magr Nahi Aati! | | Early Times Report srinagar, Oct 13: After launching a scathing attack on the Raj Bhawan, the National Conference leadership in a "U-turn of its policy" called on Governor SP Malik at his office here to hold a meeting. Within a week of NC leaders including Ali Mohammad Sagar and Aga Ruhulla issuing formal statements against the Governor, a delegation of party leaders led by Sagar called on Malik to discuss the "existing appalling security situation, human right violations and mounting anger among the youth." A NC handout said the delegation which included former ministers and senior leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Chowdary Muhammad Ramzan, Sakina Itoo and Saifullah Mir had an hour-long interaction with the Governor. On October 9, Sagar had termed governor's statement 'unfortunate'. "Governor should go through the history of NC's role rather than making statements that are far from the truth as the party has played pivotal role and has borne the brunt of violence too," Sagar had said. "Governor has advocated for the two parties that have created a wedge between people and the government. Omar Abdullah led government handed over the chair in a peaceful situation but the situation got worsened since the two parties he advocated took over in the state," he had said. But on October 12, Sagar and other leaders held cordial meeting with the Governor. Unlike the previous statements, the NC leaders were also praise for the Governor. "We have always respected the Governor's office and will continue to do so. We have a record of working in unison with successive governors of the state and therefore we in our party vouch for an affable connection with the Governor's office. Keeping up with our values, our leadership welcomed and looked forward to work with the new governor to bring everlasting peace to the ailing and bruised state of Jammu & Kashmir," the NC leaders said. "We appreciate the way Malik has unequivocally underscored the role played by New Delhi in pushing the Jammu and Kashmir to wall and we expected that a conciliatory process will start which will impress at the helm of affairs in New Delhi to initiate some CBMs but to our dismay that has not happened," the leaders said. A few days ago NC leader and former Minister Aga Ruhulla Mehdi had also issued a formal statement against the Raj Bhawan in general and governor in particular. Despite repeated attempts the NC could be contacted for comments. |
