British International School celebrates Navratri | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 13: British International School, Sainik Colony, Jammu celebrated Navratri function in the School Premises. SanjeevVerma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest of the function. The campus looked like a mini Gujarat, with students, parents and teachers; all dressed up in traditional attire and dancing to the rhythmic Dandiya beats! 'Navratri' is a Sanskrit word where 'Nav' means nine and 'Ratri' means nights. In India, Navratri is a famous festival celebrated with great joy and reverence. This festival is a joyous way of worshipping Goddess Durga. The celebration started with Ganesh Vandana followed by formation of nine Avtaars of Goddess Durga. All the students and parents present joined in the celebration, tapping to the spectacular music. A strong bond was visualized between parents, teachers and students and happiness resonated all around. It was huge family, tapping their toes with the rejoicing music. Students of Level 3 to 8 came dressed in traditional Dandiya attire and performed with their teachers, which made for a spectacular visual treat for everyone to see and relish. The School Management said, "This is a day of bonding, where the gathering, the celebration and dance etched a unique combination signifying the diversity of Indian culture."In his speech the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the British International School which is the first IB/IGCSE School in Jammu. He hoped that the standard of Education will rise up in the State with such schools. He congratulated the management for such efforts. At last Chairperson British International School, Gita Sharma thanked the Chief Guest for sparing the valuable time for encouraging the little ones of British international School. |
