ULB elections:Top BJP leaders under scanner for swindling funds | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 14: After completion of polling for the urban local body elections in Jammu province, whisper campaign has been started within BJP because many party leaders have alleged swindling of funds in the elections. BJP candidates are hesitating to come out openly against top leaders of the party who have pocketed funds meant for them. Credible sources said that instead of sharing information regarding collection of funds for the civic body polls with senior leaders, only two leaders have kept money with them. It is alleged that funds were given to only selective candidates and many deserving candidates who were in winning positions were not given enough funds. Credible sources further said that like Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, only a couple of leaders kept control of the funds given by the Centre for civic body polls. "Swindling funds meant for elections has become a routine affair in J&K BJP because there is no accountability of funds", sources said and added that senior leaders were never taken into confidence regarding financial affairs of the party. Credible sources said that a top BJP leader, who is already facing allegation of swindling funds for Parliament and Assembly elections, was also under scanner for ULB polls. Credible sources said that central leadership of the party was very particular to win ULB elections in Jammu province so huge funds were pumped from the high command to win the elections. But the funds were not reached equally to the candidates. Meanwhile with the polling for third phase of the four-phase civic bodies elections concluding on Saturday evening, the election process for all 37 urban local bodies of the Jammu division was completed. |
