Jammu, Oct 22: J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) on Monday remembered the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the motherland. A function was organized in the memory of Ashfaq-ullah Khan on his birth anniversary at Dogra Shourya Samarak, Amphalla Jammu by the Chairman of the Association, Ved Gandotra. Remembering Ashfaq-ullah Khan, the speakers threw light over his life history. "He was the best friend of Ram Parsad Bismil and both live poets. With their Urdu poetry, they enlightened the brain and hearts of the youth, with the love for their mother land and evoke with the sense to liberate Bharat Mata from the clutches of the English empire," Speakers said. Ashfaq Ullah was born on October 22, 1900 at Shahjanpur and was hanged to death on December 19, 1927 at Faizabad. He was associated with Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and also joined Neta Ji in the freedom struggle. Floral tributes were paid to the great freedom fighter to remember him. Advocate A.S Qazmi Senior Vice President of JKFFA was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The members also remembered Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Chander Shekhar Azad, Maharani Laxmi Bai, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Raj Guru and paid floral tributes to them. The prominent persons present were Rajiv Mahajan (Vice Chairman of JKFFA), R.C Puri (President of JKFFA), Karnail Chand (General Secretary of JKFFA), Brij Mehra, Rajinder Singh, Kamal Sharma (Vice Presidents of JKFFA), J.J Singh (Secretary of JKFFA), Sukhminder Singh Maini (Financial Secretary of JKFFA), Gaurav (Office Secretary of JKFFA) and Vinod Sahani. |
