HC seeks details of officials involved in embezzlement of funds | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 22: High Court today directed authorities to submit details and particulars of erring officials who are involved in the embezzlement of public funds. A division bench of the court passed the directions as the court was informed that several employees from the rank of Junior Engineer to the rank of Executive Engineer were involved in the Handwara PHE scam. The Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) though Superintendent of Police in its report has submitted that prima facie the officials in PHE division Handwara have committed various irregularities and bungling in crores of rupees. However in the report by VOK, names of the erring officials were not mentioned. The court imposed penalty of Rs 5,000 each on department of Horticulture, Floriculture, Fisheries, Pollution Control Board, Health Department as well as Geology and Mining for not following the court directions. These departments were directed earlier to submit status reports indicating the number and locations of all the toilets/latrines which have been identified on the banks of all nallas, rivers, streams and tributaries which are source of drinking water for consumption of the inhabitants. |
