SRINAGAR, Oct 26: In Jammu & Kashmir it has been observed that directives issued by the various departments and agencies are not being implemented by the people who are supposed to get things implemented on the ground.
The Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) issued a circular asking the invigilators appointed for the board examinations to hand over their mobiles phones to the inspector of that particular examination centre. However, the circular has not been implemented on the ground so far.
"The invigilators have virtually given a damn to the circular and were using the mobile phones while the students were busy in writing their examination papers. The usage of the mobile phones was not taken well by the students and they complained about the same," said sources while sharing details with Early Times.
Sources said that the students got distracted as soon as the mobile phones of the invigilators rang while the examination was on the various examination centres across the Kashmir valley. The invigilators did not care whatsoever for the students and did not surrender their mobile phones.
"The circular issued by JKBOSE is clear that the invigilators should surrender their mobiles to the Principal of that particular institution. The Principal has been designated as the inspector of that particular examination centre and he or she is responsible for the matters at the examination centre," said sources.
Sources said that students who appeared in the 10th class examination on October 24 complained that they could not concentrate on their paper since the mobile phones of invigilators rang many times during the examination. They demanded that stern action needs to be taken in this regard so that their future is secured.
"It is an irony that instead of showing the path of success to the students the teachers of the contemporary era are spoiling their future by working against the norms. The students are the future of this nation and in case they get distracted during examination they would not be able to make it big," said sources.
Sources said that the students are contemplating to knock at the doors of the higher ups in case the invigilators do not mend their ways and continue to distract them during the examination for the remaining papers. Inaction from the concerned authorities so far is likely to hamper the career progression of the students appearing in the different examinations being conducted by JKBOSE.
It would be in place to mention here that the class 10th examination started on October 24 while as the 11th class examination commenced from today. The examination of 12th class that was set to start from October 22 has been delayed.
