Fire breaks out in SMGS hospitals, ACs gutted | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 14: A massive fire broke out in Computerized Biochemistry Lab on Wednesday's morning at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu due to alleged Short-Circuit and blaze was under control within a couple of hours. The old Air Conditioners were the reason for short circuit allegedly. Officials told that Early Times, the old ACs were installed in the Lab, where the costly Computerized machine was installed, for the cooling the machines, cause the short circuit in the lab. Slamming the non-serious approach of the concerned authority, officials said that the already used ACs were installed in the Lab and a number of complaints were put forward to the concerned authority to upgrade the fire-fighting system and old ACs but all efforts in vain. They also added that the Lab is already facing the shortage of space and the same was brought to the notice the concerned authority a few months ago but nothing has been done so far. Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Rakesh Sharma said that due to the short circuit in the transformer of the Old AC led to fire breaks out in the Lab and the blaze was brought under control within in few of hours. When asked why the costly machine was set up in small space, he replied that he joined the office recently and Lab would be set up in required space as soon as possible. |
