Labour Department rescues child engaged as labourer | | | Jammu, Nov 14: A team of officers of labour Department under the supervision of Assistant Labour Commissioner Jammu, Renu Bala Saini today conducted surprise check of shops and establishments in Janipur area of Jammu District and rescued one child who was working at M/S Sain Food Junction at High Court Road Janipur. The rescued child labour was produced and handed over to concerned Child Welfare Committee at Trikuta Nagar under the processing of Law. The necessary penal action against the erring employee who employed child labour in violation of law is being taken by the Labour Department and Child Welfare Committee as a convergent effort to eradicate the menace of child labour from district Jammu and to make it child labour free zone in view of recent amendments in the Act under which child has been defined upto age of 18 years. The Labour Department is duty bound to check the provisions of Child Labour Act and the process of surprise checking will continue in coming days and the defaulters shall be booked as per law, which includes imprisonment and fine upto Rs 50,000 or both. |
