Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 06: The National Chess championship with prize money of rupees 20 lacs will be commenced from 8th December at Gurjar desh charitable trust, Channi bye pass Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir have fielded eight players in the upcoming event. About 216 people including 170 players, 36 managers and 10 officials from 36 affiliated units of all India chess federation have confirmed their participation in the event. 40 titled players, Grand Masters, International Masters and Arjuna award winners will also be part of the Chess championships. Atul said that these types of events can bring boom in sports activities in the state and can motivate thousands of youths to get involved in sports. This event will give highest level of exposure to our state players and will play a very big role in diversion of mind of youth of our state towards sports and positive directions. The event will have 13 rounds with first prize cashing Rs. 5.00 lacs; second winner will take Rs. 4.00 lacs, third winner will get Rs 3.00 lacs. 4th position will take Rs. 2.00 lacs, 5th position Rs. 1.50 lacs, 6th position Rs. 1.00 lacs, 7th position Rs. 1.00 lacs, 8th position Rs. 1.00 lacs, 9th position Rs. 75000/- and 10th position will take Rs. 75000/- |
