Srinagar witnessed the season's coldest night at minus 4°C, while the minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir continued to drop on Friday, the weather office said. India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperatures were 'appreciably below normal' at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir meaning the temperatures were below the normal minimum for this time of the year. Throughout the Kashmir valley, the temperatures plummeted. The minimum temperatures were minus 6°C in Pahalgam and minus 6.2°C in Gulmarg, respectively. "The temperatures dropped due to the clear night sky. During the next 48 hours, the state's higher reaches are likely to receive light snow as a Western Disturbance is expected to become active during this period," a Met Department official said. The weather will remain dry till December 9. Thereafter there are chances of widespread rain and snowfall in the state," the weather bureau predicted. |
