Forest Deptt retrieves 240 kanals of land at Pahalgam | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Dec 7: Continuing its anti-encroachment drive, Forest department retrieved 240 Kanals of forest land in Batakoot Village of Pahalgam Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Lidder Forest Division, Feroz Ahmad told Early Times that anti-encroachment drive was kick started last month from Hapthnar village of Pahalgam and encroachments are being removed at Batakoot Pahlagam. Batakoot village falls in jurisdiction of Range Pahalgam of Lidder Forest Division. "240 Kanals of forest land was retrieved back in compartment 31 of Pahalgam range and 9 Kothas and structures raised illegally on forest were demolished," he said. Earlier, the department has booked several offenders for attempting to grab forest land by raising constructions over it particularly at Pahalgam. Important to mention, Department has admitted in assembly last year that at least 33 hectors of land has been encroached illegally at Pahalgam in South Kashmir's Anantnag. |
