Political touts express gratitude to ex- BJP MLA for rechristening City Chowk | | | K. Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 10: A couple of life size hoardings have propped up in City Chowk, where in some political touts are expressing gratitude to Ex-MLA of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for rechristening City Chowk without any official order. In one of the hoardings, Ex-MLA (East) Rajesh Gupta can be seen with folded hands with a message from his follower Sandeep Gupta, saying "Shri Rajesh Gupta, Manineye Vidhayak Jammu Purv, City Chowk ka naam Bharat Mata Chowk rakhne Ke liye (we are thankful to Mr Rajesh Gupta, Member Legislative Assembly, Jammu East for changing name of City Chowk to Bharat Mata Chowk)". Some locals stated that this is political stunt of Ex MLA East to lure the voters of his constituency in particular region in general. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu-Ramesh Kumar while talking to Early Times said that he has not received any communication in this regard to change the name of the City Chowk. Ex MLA and Chairman National Panthers Party-Harsh Dev Singh while talking to Early Times said it is just a publicity stunt and they (BJP men) are befooling people in the name of nationalism. Such attempts may polarize the society, Singh added. Ex MLA (East) Rajesh Gupta said that I have demanded this in a function on 15th of August and also proposed this in Jammu Municipal Corporation. And there is nothing wrong in this, said Gupta. |
