Jammu, Dec 18: A lecture was organized on the eve of Vijay Divas i.e. 16 December under the Swami Vivekananda Chair, Central University of Jammu. Brigadier Suchet Singh was the chief guest of the event. The programme started with the lightening of lamp with recitation of Goddesses Saraswati verses and with cultural presentation by the students. The other dignitaries present during the event were Prof. NK Tripathi, Prof. Deepak Pathania, Prof. BS Bhau, Prof. SK Khosa, Prof. Govind Singh and other faculty and students of Central University of Jammu. Speaking on the history of Vijay diwas, Brigadier Suchet Singh has informed the beginning of celebration of Vijay Diwas by emphasizing the sacrifices made by our Indian Soldiers during 1971 War. While speaking Brigadier Suchet Singh emphasized that Indian Army have liberated Bangladesh from Pakistan along with 93,000 troops, surrendered to the allied forces consists of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini, led by General Jagjit Singh Arora, of India in the Ramna Race Course, now Suhrawardy Udyan, in Dhaka after their defeat in the 1971 war. The vote of thanks has been delivered by Prof. Vivek Kumar, Chairperson of Swami Vivekananda Chair by emphasising on the sacrifices made by all Indian heroes participated during the war of 1962, 1965 and 1971 and invited the youth of country to serve the motherland. |
