| Water wastage goes on unabated, PHE authorities unmoved | | |  Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: While on one hand there is acute water crisis at several places, on the other hand this essential commodity which supports life on the earth is being wasted madly due to lack of the attention of the authorities concerned.
An old leak in PHE pipe at MH Chowk Udhampur is a live example of this.
Thousands of liters of water daily get wasted from 4:00 am to 1:00 pm due to the leakage in pipe.
"Many times we have brought this into the notice of authorities concerned but none come forward to fix the problem and the water keeps on wasting," Sohan Lal-a local said.
Pushpa Devi-a housewife informed that similar leaks are there in some other places too including underground but it never get checked, what to say of repairs.
"Consequently, dirty water comes in PHE supply at homes and is a risk for spread of water borne diseases," she further said.
This area where the leak is very much falls under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Municipal Committee but neither Municipality nor PHE has taken cognizance of this problem.
Locals have appealed to the Governor to intervene so that this problem is rectified. |
