PIL regarding deaf & dumb people of Paralkot village | DB issues directives | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 10: A Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan has directed the government to ensure that all facilities were provided to the students of Paralkot village in Poonch district where 80 percent of the population was deaf and dumb. A new paper report in this regard was treated by the Bench as PIL. DB observed that a status report dated 27th of December, 2018 has been filed by Dr. Samer Mattoo, Director Health Services, Jammu, informing this Court that genetic analysis of samples obtained from the affected individuals and their families is under way. It is stated that the result of the analysis shall be communicated within 3 to 4 months. Upon this DB directed that the result of the analysis be placed before it before the next date of hearing. DB further observed that another status report dated 12th of December, 2018 has been filed by Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Secretary to Government, School Education Department, giving details of three deaf children who are of school going age in village Paralkote. The report confirms that these children are hearing impaired. This report informs that one Teacher fully trained in Braille and sign language is posted in the school to help these students. DB directed Secretary to Government, School Education Depart-ment, Ci-vil Secretariat, Jammu to ensure that the education of these children is fully facilitated. Let the further report be filed before the next date of hearing. |
