Youth take militants head on in south Kashmir, tear threat posters pasted by Hizbul | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 10: A group of youngsters on Thursday morning removed militant posters that had appeared in a village in south Kashmir. According to reliable sources, youngsters voluntarily removed the posters of militant outfit Hizbul Mujahdeen asking locals to stop attending rallies and conventions of political parties. The posters also asked the people to boycott upcoming Republic- day functions. In recent times this is for the first time that Kashmiri youth have stood up against militancy and militant activities in south Kashmir- considered to be the epicenter of new age militancy. The pictures of youth removing posters went viral on social media. In these pictures, a group of youngsters can be seen tearing off these posters that were pasted on walls and electric polls near a Mosque in the village. The posters threatened that people should stop attending conventions of mainstream political parties as militants are planning to attack these gatherings. "Don't attend conventions of political parties as we can attack them any time," reads the poster. The militant outfit also warned Kashmiris of dire consequences in case they allow their children particularly girls to participate in Republic day functions being held across the Valley. The authenticity of these posters couldn't be established independently. |
